I feel like this post should come with a disclaimer. I’m kinda useless at beauty and skincare. Or at least I was up until January of this year. I think in part this was down to sheer laziness mixed with a lack of loyalty to any routine / brand so I never found what worked for me. I know a lot of people have that moment on the morning of their 30th birthday when they wake up and think OH SHIT I’M 30 and hotfoot it to Kiehls to stockpile on eye creams and serums. I didn’t really have that moment ( see before re: lazy ) but for some reason ( * ahem * booze / lack of sleep / terrible food choices ) this Winter has taken a bigger toll on this ole face of mine, so once January hit I decided to try and sort it out.
So below are my favourite makeup and beauty products that I’ve been using since January. These are items that I use daily and will definitely be repurchasing again once their bottles are empty.
Your Good Skin:
* Balancing Skin Concentrate
* SPF 30 Anti Oxidant Day Cream
* Pro Vitamin OVernight Cream
* Soothing Micellar Cleanser
* Cruelty Free
My lovely pal Jen introduced me to this brand and I gotta say it’s a total deeelight to use. The balancing skin concentrate promises to restore your skin’s natural balance and is a lovely light consistency. The day cream contains the all important SPF and again is nice and light, doesn’t have too much of a scent and so far hasn’t broken me out which is something a lot of face moisturisers do. Again the night cream seems to be working - I’m not sure if it’s the fact that the bottles literally tell me when to put the cream on my mug and thus force me into some sort of routine or if it’s the product itself, but I have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin. Either way I liked this brand so much that I went out and got the micellar cleanser which is a lot easier on my skin than other brands. It’s exclusive to boots ( and was developed by dermatologists according to their website, so there ya go ) and you can get it here: http://www.boots.ie/yourgoodskin
*3 Miracle Oil Reconstructor
As soon as I went blonde I noticed my hair had become as dry as the Sahara. And as soon as I introduced purple shampoo into the mix I said ‘Adios, hun’ to every last drop of moisture. Aussie 3 Miracle Oil to the rescue! You only need to apply a small amount to wet hair before blow drying it and it’s enough to de tangle any knotty messes. It also smells dzzzvine and doesn’t leave a yuk greasy residue. This can also be picked up in boots : http://www.boots.ie/aussie-3-miracle-oil-reconstructor-for-damaged-hair-100ml-10196814
*Illuminising Drops ‘ Moonlight ‘
*Not tested on animals according to website, but H&M is sold in China so this affects cruelty free status.
Another gift this time from my pal Kate. This little bottle of glow has literally transformed my makeup.I add a few drops into my foundation and if I’m feelin' extra glowy, will pop a drop on each cheekbone. The consistency is really nice, and the highlight is pretty natural for a pale gal like me. I'm not a full face of makeup type of gal, so this is simple enough to add to my morning makeup without actually having to do anything particularly time consuming ! Huzzah!

OGX Renewing Argan oil of Morocco
* Weightless reviving dry oil
* Again , sold in China
And now for another hair oil… that I don’t use on my hair. You see, I was sick and tired of those horrible little lumps that appear on the top of my arms and legs. You know those little devils? They make your skin look like a raw chicken and feel just ick. Well, I googled how to get rid of these and found a tip to try Moroccan oil after showering. ( Apologies, I can’t find that article !) Anyhow, another little bit of googling and I found out that Argan oil is essench the same as Moroccan oil ( cause, that shiz is expensive ) so I picked this bottle up in Tesco for about €6.50. I think the sciency idea behind this is that the oil nourishes and soothes the hair follicles on your skin so those ghoulish little lumps don’t form. I can safely say this works - so if you suffer from this, definitely give it a go! Spray a light spray on damp skin after your shower and let it sink in.
I can’t find the exact bottle I used on Tesco website but I found it on boots : http://www.boots.ie/beauty/hair/hair-treatments-and-masks/ogx-renewing-moroccan-argan-oil-weightless-reviving-dry-oil-118ml-10153635
* Boy Brow shade brown
* The Solution
* Cruelty Free
Glossier is technically not sold in Ireland, but use parcel motel and you’re good to go!
OK so , here’s the deets. When I ordered boy brow I think I was expecting it to work actual eyebrow miracles on me. My brows are pretty bad , just weedy and pointless. I think I was expecting it to give me some sort of Harry Potter level magic brow transplant, so when I opened it and used it and realised it was essentially a brow pomade I was kind of disappointed. However, as the days went on and I learned how to use it properly ( see? I’m that useless, can’t even get a new brow product without several tutorials ) Now I’m hooked. I like how small the brush is , meaning you can be more precise , I love the colour the consistency and how it keeps your brows in place all day.
And now for the holy grail of skin product. The Solution. I’m not gona lie, when Glossier launched this product, the marketing strategy was almost cult like - but I absolutely fell for it hook line and sinker. And when it arrived and I popped the bottle ready to use it I was giddy with excitement. And man, did it deliver. I’m only two weeks into using it daily but even after the first use I could see my skin was brighter, clearer and almost like the texture had changed for the better.

So that’s my beauty run down. I hope you are all having a nice snow day , and I’ll chat to you soon!
